Many professionals put a lot of time and effort into crafting their online presence. With this in mind, you can learn a lot from checking out people's social networking accounts. Before following up with leads after a trade show, take a few moments to browse their online profiles – you'd be surprised how much you can learn.

Do they have personal websites or blogs? What do they post and retweet on Twitter? Do the two of you have any common connections on LinkedIn? These avenues may hold the key to establishing stronger relationships with prospects. After all, establishing a personal connection can go a long way.
